How did BeatauCue first get started?
We started with the remixes of  Major Lazer – Pon De Floor remix and the Brodinski & Noob – Peanuts Club, then we had a lot of requests and propositions.

What is your setup in the studio?

We do all the work with computers so we can say that our studio is a Mac with Ableton live.

How old were you when you first started producing?

We were 18 and 19 when it started getting interesting.

How do you feel your sound has evolved since you began producing?

It’s really hard to tell, we can say more melodic. I guess we will always love unharmonic bangers.

How do you approach a remix?

We just listen to the parts, keep the good ones and mess around with the others, then add some punchy drums, maybe synths.

Are there any artists you would like to remix that you haven’t yet?

Yes, of course, but most of the time it’s more about the track than about the artist.

Who are some of your favorite producers and why?

Deadmau5 for a lot of things, his sound principally. Eric Prydz for his vibe, Sébastien Léger for his groove and Diplo for the craziness and his ability to produce a lot of different genres.

Are there any albums/artists that you always find yourself listening to?

Major Lazer album is still hot. Burial tracks too but we listen to a lot of things so it’s hard to tell.

How do you approach your live show differently than when creating beats?

Playing at parties is about getting people having fun. Of course we are playing tracks we love but we always focus on the people, to make them dance on our favorite tracks. Creating beats is about creating a groove and giving a feeling, you don’t really think about people when you’re doing it.

What have been some of your favorite gigs you’ve played over the years?

Cabaret Vert festival in France and Paleo festival in Switzerland for the big and dynamic crowd. Womb Club in Tokyo for the people and the sound.

What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome in your career?

Kitsuné gave us the opportunity to remix a Two Door Cinema Club cover of Stevie Wonder to fit one of the biggest french tv program opening and we did it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqaM_Fc8fgE !

Do you have a motto or quote that you live by?

“La chouille” – french colloquialism to say “party hard.”

What advice would you have for artists just starting out?

Work always work baby work don’t stop.
