Boston-based Blue Heron, a celebrated 14-voice mixed choir, presents Music for an English Cathedral: Music from the Peterhouse Partbooks, inspired by 16th-century English repertoire from the venerable Cambridge College.

The Pacifica Quartet first appeared on The Friends’ series over 20 years ago, and then, later as winners of the Cleveland Quartet Award, the most prestigious quartet award in the U.S. Since then, they have stacked up an impressive array of honors – including succeeding the Guarneri String Quartet as quartet-in-residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Jordi Savall is unquestionably the iconic luminary of Early Music and historical performance today. His program called “Blood and Honey: Music of the Balkans,” will feature superstars of the oud, duduk, ney, kaval, qanun, as well as esteemed vocalists from Israel, France, Greece and Turkey.

Holiday program with music by Victoria, Verdelot, Bruckner and Guerrero

The Tallis Scholars return with a Holiday program featuring sacred music from Spain’s Renaissance masters Victoria and Guerrero, two works from the French father of the madrigal, Verdelot, and Ave Maria by the Austrian Romantic-era composer Bruckner.

Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin’s riveting textural approach to the Baroque repertoire is legendary and their program entitled “Concertos: Italien vs. Deutschland” will juxtapose works by Veracini, Marcello and Vivaldi to those of Bach, Handel and Telemann.
