Scream For The Scream Tour

The Scream Tour hit the Midland on Nov. 2.

The tour’s headliners, Mindless Behavior and Diggy Simmons, represent the future of flashy, cheesy, mainstream R&B and autotuned pop rap. They know how to work their young audience into a frenzy. It was a fun-filled night and the youngsters got exactly what they wanted.

The sold out Midland was packed with screaming tweens, teens and their moms. The Scream Tour truly lived up to its name. The shrieking was deafening.

Lyrically, the songs were about puppy love and teenage brag rap. The beats were fresh, synthesized and tight. Tracks like “Mrs. Right,” “Number #1 Gurl” and “Copy, Paste” had the crowd dancing all night. The music was a mixture of styles: boy band pop, Usher and younger R&B singers like Lloyd.

The energy level stayed high all night. Mindless Behavior’s synchronized dance moves and smooth vocals had the young girls swooning. The son of Run DMC’s Rev. Run, Diggy clearly showed that he was the best rapper of the night. The quality of rap runs in his genes.

Only time will tell if they mature into pop rap superstars and the future R&B heartthrobs. But for now, Diggy and Mindless Behavior are giving the kids something to scream about.
